This piece was created from a White Ash tree that had been killed by Emerald Ash Borers, insects that infest ash trees. The bowl was turned from the tree and then sandblasted to reveal the holes created by the beetles. The bowl was dyed blue and then accented with two tones of acrylic iridescent paint to create the depth and highlight the holes. The finish is satin lacquer.
